Every Friday I turn the blog over to Dan Marsicano for his Retro Recommendation, giving you a chance to learn about underrated and overlooked gems from metal’s past. This week we venture into the glam metal era. Vixen was the prominent all-female hair band at the time, but L.A.’s Phantom Blue were another female band in the genre who had a rawer edge. One of their members was the late Michelle Meldrum, who was also in groups such as Meldrum and Post Mortem. Phantom Blue’s self-titled 1989 debut is this week’s Retro Recommendation.
